Pataxó indigenous people in the Extreme South of Bahia are demanding that Veracel stops planting eucalyptus on Pataxó land.
The demand came after a three-day meeting in August 2006 held at Mount Pascoal.
Pataxó from 12 communities were at the meeting, as well as academics, NGOs and Indigenous Peoples’ organisations. The Pataxó also demanded the demarcation of their territory and a veto on conservation areas on their lands.
